May Resident Spotlight: Meet The Steeles
May 21, 2025
This month, we are proud to shine our Resident Spotlight on a truly special couple—Carl and Rose Steele! Their love story and dedication to family, faith, and community have created a beautiful legacy that continues to inspire us every day.
Carl was born on May 12, 1935, in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. As the oldest of three siblings, he spent many childhood summers on his grandparents’ farm and enjoyed playing baseball. After being drafted into the Army and serving during the Korean War, Carl returned home and pursued a degree in Mechanical Engineering from trade school. A devoted father and coach, he spent many years on the field coaching soccer, baseball, and softball for their children.
Rose was born just a year later on July 19, 1936, also in Wilkes-Barre. The youngest of four children, she grew up singing in the church choir, teaching Sunday School, and performing as a majorette in high school. A lover of Willie Nelson and ice cream, Rose’s warm and joyful personality has always brought light to those around her. She was a dedicated stay-at-home mom until her three children were in school full time.
Carl and Rose were married on June 11, 1960, and together they raised three wonderful children: Bruce, Carl, and Shana. Their family has since grown to include eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
We are so grateful to have Carl and Rose as part of our community at Venetian Gardens. Their story is a beautiful thread in the tapestry of life here at our facility, and we are honored to celebrate them this month!
