Resident Highlight: Meet Edith "Betty" Bolton
August 15, 2024
Betty has been a beloved resident at Venetian Gardens for the past two years, after relocating from another long-term care facility in Florence, Kentucky.
Born on August 1, 1928, in Somerset, Kentucky, Betty grew up alongside her three sisters and four brothers. She attended Mt. Victory School and spent 30-40 years working as a buyer of jewelry and accessories for JCPenney. It was there that she met her first husband, Royce H. Shepherd, at the young age of 20. Later in life, at 52, Betty found love again with her second husband, Robert "Bob" Bolton, whom she met when he walked into her workplace.
Betty is a proud mother of two children, Joel Shepherd and her late daughter, Becky. Some of her fondest memories include sharing supper around the round table with her family.
When asked if she had any advice for anyone reading her story, Betty simply said, "Live a clean life, don't smoke, and don't drink."
We are grateful to have Betty as part of our Venetian Gardens family. Thank you, Betty, for sharing your story with us!
